I'm Dr Katy Mould. Chemistry PhD, program leader in emerging technologies.

At Google DeepMind's Impact Accelerator I built the research engagement function for AlphaFold: 120+ scientists across six continents, impact case studies featured in AlphaFold: Five Years of Impact (15M+ reach), referenced by John Jumper in the Google DeepMind Podcast with Hannah Fry.

I'm Dr Katy Mould, a former researcher with a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry who became a senior program leader in emerging technologies. Often found at the intersection of technology program management, product discovery, research operations, AI-for-Science and science communication.

After my PhD in natural product chemistry at the University of St Andrews, I left the bench to deliver science communication, public engagement, and education programs at the Royal Society of Chemistry, Glasgow Science Centre, and BBC Studios.

I spent five years building VR and immersive learning programmes for chemistry and life sciences at Labster, then Edify and Soluis. In 2024 I joined Google DeepMind's Impact Accelerator as research engagement lead for AlphaFold, where I built the impact evaluation methodology now deployed across all GDM frontier models, and authored case studies featured in AlphaFold: Five Years of Impact, which reached over 15 million people.

Now I work with AI-for-science companies, biotech platforms, and research organisations on the operational craft of research engagement. Alongside consulting, I'm building Consilience, an AI-for-Science research intelligence platform applying multi-stage LLM triage to scientific research data to understand the downstream impacts and implications of AI in scientific research.

I'm based in Edinburgh but quite frequently found elsewhere.
